Middle School Production

Last Friday the whole Middle school did their end of year performance in the Manurewa central school auditorium.

The performance was about diversity. There were speakers, Nga Waka, Rakau, Samoan song\ speech, Ukulele-Isa Lei, Cook Island dancing, Chinese lantern dance, Indian dance- Raksha Bandhan day song, Edelweiss, Arabic number song and the children say that… the best show of all is  … Black or white dance.

My favorite was the ukulele because the sound of the music was gorgeous and it's very calm. Not like a guitar.

But some people do two or three like this boy called Mason. He is in ukulele and he says when the flag people can go down the steps and that group has to go behind the girl\boy.

Oh I forgot to tell you. The Ukulele song was a Fijian song.

My other favourite was the chinese lantern dance  because the lanterns were glowing in the dark and all the colors together look really pretty. When you look at the roof you can see some colored dots it was cool. But I have no idea how the teacher came up with this idea? I think that the teacher thought of this because he\she is a Chinese person.

The colors of the lanterns were… red, orange, dark blue and lite blue and the chineses lantern dance was beautiful.

Please, please, come to the performance next year please.

The Helpful Robot

Once upon a time there was a girl called Rosie. One day she thought that she wanted to make a robot because she knew that in China it is hard to get medicine and there is not as many schools too.

The robot is made to… make a medicine for the different kinds of sicknesses and the other job is to teach the Chinese kids how to write and say words. Oh and I forgot to tell you that the robot can talk different languages like Chinese, Russian, Thai And all sorts. But the best thing is that the robot can do is to... help hospitals make the medicine.

So she made the robot but in 2 years she finished and she tested it out “my robot, it works” said rosie. She was very, very, very, very, very, very happy.

The next morning she was ready “This is the day,” said Rosie. But then she thought how is she going to take this robot to China???

In 1 month she finished her plan to go to China!!! She whispered, “Oky here’s the plan. Step 1 the plan is that I have to save up money to go on a train to go to China. Step 2 next I have to make lots and lots of sandwiches. Step 3 bring the robot with me.”

“Oky guys” said Rosie, “Let’s do it!” said Rosies friends. “Oh I forgot to tell you these are my friends Crystal and Swirl. They are my BFF’s and nothing can break us apart” said Rosie.

But the money that they had made was only 20 dollars and the ticket was for 100 dollars. They did math to figure it out. hey thought 20+___=100 and they thought and thought and thought and they got it, 20+80=100 so they only need 80 more dollars.

But they only get 1 dollar when they do something helpful to do for anyone like mow the lawns, looking after the pets and all sorts of stuff. “But it was harder than I thought it will be” said Rosie, Crystal and Swirl.

No one really wanted them to do those things because there are people doing these things all ready and they looked all over the neighborhood and at last they found just three houses that Rosie, Crystal and Swirl can do each.

But there were old ladies that needed a young person to cut the lawn and do lots of stuff and their reward was $999,987,986.

Finally they finished doing all that stuff and they got the $999,987,986 each. After all that work they were so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so,  so, so, so tired.

The next morning Rosie, Crystal and Swirl were ready to go to China. When they got to china they were so excited to explore the country. But they just realised  that they can’t talk chinese.hey we're stuck in China.

Luckily, a really nice lady knew that they were from New Zealand. She said, “Hi do you need some help and are you lost?” “ We are okay we just don’t know how to speak Chinese” said Rosie. “ I can teach you,” said the lady. “ You can!” said Rosie, Crystal and Swirl. (Hugging the lady). “ Thank you so much for doing this for us” said everyone.

In 4 years they could speak Chinese and English but their robot was fine . They realised the robot was having to look for some kids to teach. But then this man wacked the robot with a broom because the man thought the robot was a huge fly. Then the robot was broken. “My robot it’s broken” said Rosie. (She said in chinese). She was very,very sad. “What do I do? I know my robot is broken and we can’t fix it.” said Rosie.

The lady said “You can teach the kids how to speak and write” but Rosie said “ No I can’t.” “But yes you can.” said the lady.

In 15 months she did it and she became famous for teaching the children. After that she got a message from the king of China. It said please come to the prison and that's it. So she went to the prison. When she got there she was thrown in the prison. But she didn’t know why???

The prisoners were fighting and one of the prisoners were holding an axe!!! She was really scared. She wished that she wasn't in there but she is so she tried to calm down. She was brave and she talked to the prisoners. She shouted, “STOP!!!!!!!!!” as loud as she could and the prisoners stop fighting. She told them to sit down. When they sat down she told them bible story about god.

After she finished telling the bible story the person opened the door. The man said, “What happened in there?” Rosie said, “I’m fine.” The man was worried that she wasn’t but Rosie had a message to him too.

She said “You need to make the prisoners do some work like make them do knitting and make some clothes and sell them then they get money so they can buy their own food so they won’t fight”.

When the prisoners did it they didn’t have a problem. The next morning they were surrounded in guards!!!! She didn’t know why??? Oh I forgot to tell you. She adopted 20 children from people who don’t care about children. So let’s see I was up to oh here it is. So they sneaked behind the back door crawling and they were really quiet.

Character Descriptions

My mum’s lips are red and glossy like a ruby. Her eyes are lustrous like stars.  She has long hair that is  black with red hair at the bottom. She has smooth, light brown skin.

She is funny as a clown she says, “Clean up the mess the dog made.” She is honest like a teacher. She is brave as a hunter. Whenever I go to the playground for 5 minutes she has to pick me up but sometimes she gets lost but she knows the way.

My mum’s favorite thing to is shopping in the South Mall. She likes to bake cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. My mum does heaps of sparkling make up. My mum is special to me because she does heaps of cleaning up. She does cleaning up at the evening. She wipes the windows because it dirty like cold freezing ice. She always looks at her Whats app and text messages for her friends and she is busy. She does homework so I can go up spelling list. My mum eats my brother and my tim tam cookies because they are yummy.

My Dad is cool, awesome and funny. He is tall like a tree. He has a browny colour in his eyes. His hair is bald but he has a little bit of hair. He has a lot of tattoos on his arms, legs, chest, head and shoulders. My dad is so so so strong.

He is brave, hardworking, lazy, artistic, creative and helpful. My dad is helpful because he buys me clothes, he gets me a playstation two and our house. He is hardworking because he works for hills and he lays carpet. He gets paid a lot of money. He is lazy because when my mum is cleaning my dad always doesn't help. But sometimes he does help my mum. My dad is  artistic because he likes doing graffiti and doing more graffiti in his mancave.

He likes to play some chess with me. He wants to play for ages and he always wins. My dad does some silly stuff when he is playing outside with me and my brother. Dad pokes his tongue at me and does silly faces. My dad plays his XBOX 360. The games he plays is Call of Duty Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row, New Vegas and Assassin’s Creed. I love my dad because he is cool he likes playing with me and playing cool video games.

My dad is the most funny person.  I am funny too. But my dad has glittery eyes like a diamond. My cool dad is strong as a gorilla.  He’s got silver, black and brown hair. He’s tall.                                                

He’s got a big tool box and he’s my best dad in the world. My dad is like superman. He is strong as a giant. He knows that he should be careful at work. Me too. Me and my  dad  work and work and work. It was every hard work but it was amazing and fun.

My mummy has dark, smooth, brown hair. My mother is tall as a big tree. My mum has brown, sparkly, eyes like a diamond ring. She wears light blue pants with a light brown t-shirt also with black shoes.

 

My mum is sometimes scary like a scary witch. She is funny because every time she jumps into the pool she spills water on me and I go in the pool and splash my mum.

She likes to shop at Countdown, Pak'nsave, New World and the mall. She  buys clothes, footwear, pants, gloves, and socks.

She says to me I'm cute and beautiful. She says, “put my necklace on” and I do it. My mum does gardening in the garden. She grows vegetables, fruit, flowers, plants and seeds. I love my mum because she always gives me hugs, kisses, gifts and cuddles.

Lily’s hair is soft like the fluffy clouds. Her eyes are brown like a bar of chocolate. The colour of her skin is tan. She is small because she is a baby.

                    

Lily is a diva and aa chatterbox. She is sometimes a naughty sister. She always fights with her sister Jasmine when she wants Jasmine's toy.  She's playful and she loves to sleep “Zzzzzzzzzz”. She is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

Lily loves to play with toys. She loves eating oranges. She likes cupcakes and sweets. She likes playing on the trampoline when she visits. Lily is funny. When she wants an orange she says … “ Banana” instead of an orange.

I love her because she is a good cousin.

My Cousin  

He has dark brown eyes like gorilla skin. He has long hair like a fountain. His skin is as dark as a tree trunk. He is as strong as a guard.                      

My cousin  is naughty like a prankster. He did this one. He got gloves and put water and dirt when my sister was going to do gardening. She said, “Ew.” He is ten years old and Indian. He loves to play on his ipod and computer and likes to watch this youtuber called SSundee. My cousin is good at hockey. He is speedy as lightning at slam clicking on the x button when his parents reach home.

He likes to play Roblox Element wars and Legendary sword game Rpg. He is rebirthed 15. Every time you  rebirth you lose everything but my cousin  has a glitch he does. His favorite game on ipod is Robbery Bob and Clash royal. In Clash of Royle he really wants a sparky and ice wizard. He likes to skype. When his parents don't let him play he comes to my room and starts playing. I like him because he is the best  gaming cousin in the world.

NZ Read Aloud

We have joined the NZreadaloud group on Edmodo this term.  Our first book is the wonderful picture book "Fuzzy Doodle" written by Melinda Szymanik and illustrated by Donovan Bixley.

We have been exploring the poetic devices and figurative language the author has used. The author has used the life cycle of a caterpillar as a metaphor for the creative process of writing a book.

New Chromebooks

On our first day back, after the holidays, we had a big surprise waiting for us in our classroom. It was a class set of Chromebooks! A Chromebook is a small laptop. It doesn’t have software on it but accesses Google Chrome programmes in the cloud.

We have been learning how to look after our Chromebook and to use them for learning.We are able to log in to our Google Drive account and create new documents to do our writing and reading activities in.We are also learning to work on a shared document with a buddy.We are looking forward to using our Chromebooks in all subject areas.

Dancing with Mythology

On Tuesday the 5th of April Room 16 went to Vodafone Events Centre to learn about Maori language, Maori myths and to dance. When we got there we sat on the floor and listened to the stories about Pou Kapua. 

Gabby told us about Ranginui and Papatuanuku. She said that Ranginui and Papatuanuku had seventy boys.Ranginui and Papatunuku hugged each other and there was no light between them. Their seventy kids were between them and they were so squashed that they wanted to separate them. Tangaroa tried first but he couldn't do it. Then Tane Mahutu tried and he separated them.

After all the talking we played a game. The game was to flex our bodies to make an animal or a boat. We formed into groups. Our group started first. Our group did an animal. The animal was an ant. We tried to form an ant but it looked like a nest. But someone guessed it. I was glad because my back hurt!

Now it was the next groups turn. Their group did a falling tree. The other group did the waka (the boat). The last group did Rata looking at the beautiful tree.
